Pirate101 Lives - 2018 Edition!

Ahoy Pirates!

I hope you're having a wonderful Friday. Last month, Kingsisle hinted that they're working on an update for the game, but couldn't show us because they weren't quite ready to share it with us. There has been some speculation that Kingsisle could share a little something with us for the next Kingsisle Live which will take place on Thursday, August 30th.

The first thing we need to do is accept that Kingsisle has finally found the direction that they want to go and they're starting to work on the game again. There's no disputing that Pirate101 has lost a lot of players, but that wasn't because the game is a bad game. It's such an amazing game that many players, even after years of no new world updates, have stuck around waiting for a new update. That's a game to be proud of. I'm glad that Kingsisle sees that! So for now, let's talk about a few things that have been posted on the official Pirate101 Message Boards by our awesome community manager, Bat!

A Sign That Pirate101 Is Being Worked On
If you make your way to the Pirate101 Message Boards, you'll see a thread made by "HardyMarkScupper" about Blind Mew. Years ago, Blind Mew would post on the official message boards with little hints of what could be coming in Pirate101's future. Hardy Mark asked if Blind Mew would ever return. It was met with a few responses, and one in particular by our community manager:

This is really a confirmation that Blind Mew is working on the game! I'd say that is the best news that Pirates have received in years. Blind Mew works on the story, so could that mean we might get a main world or our first side world? At this point, as long as long as they make content, I wouldn't mind! Anyway, Bat went on to state that he and Professor Falmea finished working on the Script for next week's Kingsisle Live. Do you think they'll share a little bit of gameplay of a new possible world/side world from the development server? Or do you think they'll hint at it and share that sometime in September? I guess we'll just have to tune in and watch! Thank you all for reading. Until next time, I'll see you around the skyways. :D

Such A Talented Community!

Hello Wizards!

Today I'd like to share some amazing art from a talented artist, Eclipse Fox aka Victoria Thundershard. Victoria has shared many amazing images on her Instagram, one of which I'm going to share with you all today. She recently created one for Wizard101's 10th Birthday.  I'm not an artist myself, but I can see how hard artists work on their amazing art. Victoria did a great job capturing the personalities of all of our teachers in the artwork below.

This is really a reminder of how much I love this community. There are so many talented people, like Victoria, that do such a great job of showing their love for the game & community. Thanks, Victoria, for sharing such an amazing artwork with the community. Thank you for being a great friend as well. :) If y'all would like to see more amazing artwork from Victoria, feel free to click on the link below to access her Instagram!

Why Steam Is A Great Idea!

Hi there!

I wanted to make a new blog post on why I believe steam will help Wizard101 in a very positive way. The community has grown since Wizard101's release. Steam will allow the community to grow even more. Before we get too much into why steam is good for the game, let's talk the single most important that Wizard101 has accomplished over the past 10 years.

Kingsisle has added many features to the game since their release. As a spectator, as many others who are still playing the game, we've seen them add: mounts, crown shop gifting, advanced pets, bundles, gardening, gauntlets, fishing, daily assignments, earn crowns, 17 additional worlds, etc. I'm positive I've missed many features. While all of these features are amazing, their main accomplishment at this point is making it to 10 years!

Wizard101 fans have helped play a major role in Wizard101's success. However, there are people who have claimed many times in the past 10 years that the game is dying and Wizard101 is a horrible game. The fact is that even they joined the game and kept playing because they loved it (and still love it). No matter the price, they continued playing the game. There have been people that have tried the game out and didn't like it. Those who stayed helped keep the game running for a decade! Now that we see that people did stay and Wizard101 has lasted a decade, let me give my opinion on why I think Steam is a great idea for Kingsisle.

The Steam website has 300-400 million visits per month. There are tens of millions of people who want to try out new games. While not everyone will like Wizard101, the people who may have never discovered the game may like it a lot! That doesn't make the opinions of others who say it's a bad idea to add Wizard101 to Steam a bad idea. But when you look at it; it would be a great thing even if 50,000 out of 100,000 people who may try the game out like it.

50,000 x 10 (one month membership) = $500,000
50,000 x 60 (yearly membership) = $3,000,000

So even if 50% of the people from steam like the game enough to buy it, the game would be more successful than it currently is! Additional funding would help provide new features, world updates, and more! Whether it gets bad reviews or not, people may look at the game and find it to be interesting. Even if the game had a 25% approval rating, any person out of that 25% willing to give the game a chance would still make the game more successful. Any new player joining the game will help Kingsisle as a game team. Therefore, Steam is a great idea! :)
