25 Days of Christmas - Day 25 - Jesus Born On This Day

Hello!

Merry Christmas, everyone! Today's the 25th of December - the final (possibly) day of Christmas songs! I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday season & spent plenty of time with your family. I am extremely thankful for my family. I will always remain thankful for as long as I live for each Christmas I get to spend with my family. I love this time of year so much.

Now, let's share one more song that I believe also represents the true meaning of Christmas! Each year I end on a certain song that I believe represents Christmas. Today, I decided to share "Jesus Born On This Day" by Mariah Carey! I hope you enjoy the song! Anyway, Merry Christmas, everyone. Have a wonderful end of Christmas Day. And I hope all of you have a wonderful & safe New Year!

Santa Run 2019 - Recap Post

Hello Wizards!

Merry Christmas! I hope all of you are having an amazing week before Christmas. Over at SpiralVision, we celebrated Christmas by hosting our 5th Annual Santa Run. I have to say that this event may have been my favorite event out of all of the previous events we've hosted. So before I start recapping everything, I want to thank all of you for making it such a great time. This community means so much to me and I truly appreciate any support you show whether you were able to attend or not. Thank you. Now, let's get to recapping!

As you see above, Mr. WhiteTiger93 on YouTube had his own great Santa Run 2019 recap video. I truly do appreciate that he makes these videos for everyone! He does such a great job making these videos, and of course, making many other videos involving the game. So I ask all of you today to give his video a like and subscribe to his channel. We definitely need more family-friendly content creators like him in this community. Thank you WhiteTiger93!

One thing that really uplifted my spirits was all of the new wizards that attend this year's Santa Run. There were points this year where I didn't think family-friendly events were as appreciated as previous years. This event proved me wrong. I am so thankful for that. I hope all of you check out each family-friendly event, not just ours, that takes place in this community. Hosting an event is tough work, especially around the Holidays. There are a few upcoming events in the community such as DuelCircle's 5th Clash Tournament on December 21st & 22nd and Radiance Reborn's event on December 22nd. I hope that y'all are also able to check them out.

This year was certainly something else! But at the end of the day, I'm still so thankful for all of you. What I see in the photo above is a community of people of many different races, religions, orientations, etc. This is what the community has always been to me. It shows that the world can come together. It seems corny, but I love it. It's not just our events. I appreciate it when you celebrate other family-friendly events in the community as well. Anyway, this is more of a thank you post than anything. I just wanted all of you to know how much I appreciate your support.

I'd like to thank our awesome Moderators (WhiteTiger93 & Sarah Skystrider) for hosting fun code giveaways in the Twitch Chat during the entirety of our event and Iridian Willowglen for hosting such an epic afterparty at her Briny Deep Retreat. Also a major thank you to Autumn Dreamwalker for streaming with this weird wizard named Edward Lifegem. And I'd like to thank Kingsisle for supporting this event through codes and helping us promote the event! I truly do appreciate their support, not just for our events, but events throughout the community. Thank you, Kingsisle. And last, but certainly not least, I'd like to thank all of you reading for your support - whether you were able to attend or not. You truly made my Christmas season a lot brighter. Thank you all again for supporting us and I hope you have a very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year. We'll see you in 2020!

Hello Wizards!

We've made a lot of progress since the first of the year (even with many breaks). But I hope to quest a lot more next year with fewer breaks. If you are interested in joining us on our group questing adventures through Avalon, do save the date & time below! In the meantime, I hope all of you have a very Merry Christmas & wonderful Holiday Season! Thanks to everyone that joined us this year. 2020 Vision!

Hi there!

Today's the 7th Day of December! I've been looking forward to this day for a while because my town has a Christmas Festival - where they have a Christmas parade, a somewhat tree lighting, AND many other fun festivities. Tomorrow, my town will have a live Nativity Scene which thousands out of my small town support. So this weekend is going to be a very Christmassy weekend. :D This brings me to today's song... "We Need A Little Christmas" by Johnny Mathis! I heard it on the radio today and at that moment, I knew I'd share it here with y'all. Enjoy! :D

25 Days of Christmas - Day 6 - Christmas Without You

Hello Wizards.. I mean.. Earthlings...!

Today is the 6th Day of December which means it's time for the 6th Christmas song of the month. Gosh! December always seems to fly by when you don't want it to. I'm a little late sharing today's song, but I thought I'd share a song from recent times. Rest assured, I still have plenty of songs from before the 2000s to share with y'all. Anyway! Here's "Christmas Without You" by OneRepublic.

I've recently changed our playlist to all Christmas songs. One of the songs I added to this playlist is a song from Home Alone 2: Lost in New York called "All Alone On Christmas" by Darlene Love. After it played last night during our last night, I knew I wanted to share this song with you all today. So, here you go! :D

25 Days of Christmas - Day 2 - Last Christmas

Ahoy Humans!

Today is the 2nd Day of December which means a 2nd Christmas song. One song that I always remember looking forward to listening to as a kid on the radio was "Last Christmas" by Wham! This song has always been a favorite of mine and I will always share it here on my blog. I believe I've shared it nearly every single year. So that tradition continues this year! :D

25 Days of Christmas - Day 1 - All I Want For Christmas Is You

Hi there!

It's here! It's here! It's HERE! The Christmas season is finally here! Can you believe that it's already December 1st?! I feel like this year flew by. I don't know if the exclamation points gave it away, but I love this time of year. I especially love this time of year because I can play as many of my favorite Christmas songs that I truly enjoy listening to. Speaking of that...

If you're new to my blog, I have had a tradition of sharing 25 of my favorite Christmas songs here on my blog. This is the 8th consecutive year! I started this tradition back in 2011. It's so crazy to think that I've shared so many Christmas songs - some of them being repeats - but it's tradition, so that's okay. :D Today, I wanted to share a special song that recently turned 25 years old - "All I Want For Christmas" by Mariah Carey - as the first song of 25 days of Christmas! I hope you check back each day for my all-time favorites. Okay, let's share it! Merry Christmas!

Happy 7th Birthday, Pirate101!

Ahoy Pirates!

Did you know that today is Pirate101's official 7th Birthday? Seven years ago, Kingsisle officially released Pirate101 to the public. I remember logging into the game with my new pirate and watching all of the new pirates join in. It was crazy to see so many people logging in all at once! But before I get into screenshots. I thought I'd a share a few of my favorite memories of the game!

One of my favorite memories was being able to participate in Pirate101 Beta. I have to say that it was definitely the coolest experience I had involving video games. It was the first time that I got to test out a game before the official release. One thing is that I had to keep silent and couldn't share any screenshots or videos. Towards the end of August of 2012, I finally got to release a few of my screenshots from my first pirate - Edward (a Buccaneer). You'll see a video above of those screenshots! So overall, I'd say Pirate101 Beta was definitely one of my favorite moments!

One other thing that I really love about Pirate101 was the events! I remember attending so many great events and even hosting one here and there! Pirate events have always been different since we had pirate ships. With those, we got to participate in NXP Events where we'd earn nautical experience all at once with tons of pirates. I know you may see us hosting Wizard events, but the pirate events were always the most fun to host. While I can't pick one certain event, I will say that every Pirate event was a blast to attend.

Anyway, I'd love to wish Pirate101 a very Happy 7th Birthday! Lucky Number 7! I'm happy to see the game still going & being updated to this day. Pirate is definitely an underrated game. There's so much possibility. I hope that possibility is one day discovered. Until then, let's eat cake & celebrate that we still have the game! Thank you all so much for reading this random Birthday post. And thank you, Kingsisle, for continuing to update the game, even if it isn't as much as you'd like to update it. Keep up the great work... P.S. ADD Friend Chat Channels in the game!

Wizard101: The Creepier Carnival Bundle

Hello Wizards!

I'm sure most of you have already heard, but Kingsisle has released a new bundle at Gamestop just in time for Halloween. This new bundle is somewhat an upgrade (entirely new items) to the previous Creepy Carnival Bundle. You can buy the "Creepier Carnival Bundle" at Gamestop for only $29! I was lucky to get my hands on one recently for my myth wizard, Edward Gem. I must say that he is enjoying the carriage! I already have plans to use that mount for my group questing adventures! Anyway, if you would like more information about this bundle, feel free to click on the link below and/or watch the video. Thanks, Kingsisle, for an awesome new bundle!

A Look Into The Future

Hello Wizards!

I hope you're having a wonderful week. Today I wanted to talk a little bit about something that I wasn't so sure of a few weeks ago - the future of the events. Many of you have asked me if we were going to have a Halloween Run this year, and I regret to tell you that will not have one this year. We are, however, going to have something else later this year!

That's right! There will be a Santa Run this year. Something special about this year is that it's going to be our 5th Annual Santa Run. That means we've had a Santa Run for five Decembers in a row! It's so cool that these have gone on for so long. It is tough to have them, especially when people go. But one thing I need to keep in mind is that most of you that attend our events today have never attended. So you, like many others in the past, will get to experience community togetherness!

Nearly seven years ago, I thought it would be cool to host some sort of Santa Run in the commons. So I made a blog post, tweeted it out, and when the time came, several friends in the community showed up. We had fun only running around the commons. There were no pre-activities, no afterparty, no stream. It was just a moment for friends to hang out. I have a few key events like that, that truly are my favorites. I hope we reach many new friends that feel the same way about the community in our upcoming events. I'm going to consider this as a relaunch/reboot of the events. Especially since I'd like to change things up for next year's events.

Nothing will ever be perfect, but I am hoping to do bring positivity to the community next year through various projects that I'll be working on. On top of that, we'll also host events (some new, some classic). But as we host new events, I ask all of you to spread the word about our events when we announce the dates! It would be fun to get the word out to like-minded peeps in the community. And if you've been with us since the beginning - thank you so much for your support. I know there are a few of you that have been with us for years. You have no idea how much that means to us that you still support our efforts. Anyway, I think that's all I have for today. I have a busy day, so I should really get started on some stuff in real life. Thank you for reading and I hope to see you at our 5th Annual Santa Run in December. More information about this event will be announced in late next month or early December! Until next time, I'll see you around the spiral.

A Return Of Depression - A Ramble

Hi there,

Today I wanted to talk about something serious here on my website. Over the past several months, I've been lagging on quite a bit - real life and here in the community. I have tried doing everything I can to get important things done - such as announcing winners of contests and/or hosting events - but doing this stuff has been so much harder on me than anytime before.

Over the past several months, I've had something return that I didn't expect would ever return. Depression. I had depression before I joined this community and that is really what got me more involved in the community. I started playing Wizard in July of 2009, but I became more active in supporting community efforts in October of 2009 - ten years ago! Ten years ago, I joined the community as a 16-year old that needed time away from what was stressing me out offline. Wizard101 and its community was the place I chose to spend that time. Since that time, I've made many new friends that have come and gone. It's tough seeing so many friends here leave over a decade whether it's conflict or just a busy life. But, I'm thankful to have been able to make good memories during those times.

Today, I was questioning whether to tell everyone here why I've been different this year. Why I've been lagging behind on new blog posts, being involved in a conflict/drama within the community, etc. The truth is that I've put off accepting that my depression has been returning for well over a year now. It's made me question many things in real life and here in the community. I've questioned why I'm blogging, whether people were talking about me behind my back, and even if the events are something the community still likes. Heck, I went on to have an event, the Holiday Mashup, when I was going through one of the toughest times I've had. I can point out many negatives about this event. But instead, I'm going to use this post to point out positives.

One main positive thing about our recent Holiday Mashup event is the people that did support and/or attend the event. The ones that don't only point to contests are always the ones we try to work for. There are fewer in the community that appreciates the true intent of events (not just ours) and will only go if they have a chance of winning something. But when anyone supports/attends our events for the actual purpose of community involvement, it brightens up my day. I don't care if we had two people attend or support for that purpose. You brighten my day! I know not everyone is able to attend our events and I want to thank those that just spread the word about them. For a while now, I've thought about not having them anymore. But, those who truly support the events will be the reason they continue. Heck, even if there are 10 of us left. We'll do them for the sake of true community involvement/togetherness.

I really don't know what the future holds for me. But I hope it's bright! I want to end this post to let you know that I am okay and that I hope to get back to my usual self eventually with the help that I am going to get in real life by talking to a professional. I have good days & bad days. Today is actually a halfway good/bad day. But I still have hope. Why? Well, first of all, I LOVE Life and I'm fighting depression. In all honesty, I couldn't say that before I joined the community. While I haven't been myself for a while now, I am going to try my best to do things that I have always wanted to do but had something in the back of my mind telling me that someone would think it was weird or pointless. I feel that if I break that shell, I will once again break this depression. I hope y'all will join me on this strange new journey. I hope to make new posts soon & get caught up on things I've been behind on for months. It might take a bit. But stick with me. Thank you for reading, everyone. Until next time, I'll see you around the spiral.  ~ Edward Lifegem

I had to choose another random photo to add to this post... So here you go ;)

SpiralVision Group Questing - One Year Anniversary!

Hello Wizards!

I hope you're having a wonderful start of the week. Today, I wanted to talk a bit about something that I haven't really posted on my blog in months - group questing! Yesterday, September 9th, we got to celebrate our one year anniversary of Wizard101 Group Questing!

I still can't believe that we've been group questing for an entire year. When we first started this, I didn't think it would last this long. Sure, we have friends come & go, but we continue moving forward through each world. We've had such amazing adventures & laughs from Wizard City through Zafaria. Soon enough, we'll enter the world of Avalon - one of the best worlds in the game!

I look forward to making many new memories with this amazing group (which includes anyone & every one that joins us). So I'd like to thank each and every one of you for participating in our group questing adventures whether you stop by to help or quest with us. Here's to another year!

Community Apprecation Day: Thank You!

Hi there!

Happy Community Apprecation Day to all of you! Today, many of the fansite owners/community leaders have made posts and/or videos sharing their appreciation for this wonderful community. Today, I'm doing the same thing. Let me start off with saying that I appreciate each & every one of you for everything that you do to make this community a great place to be! Whether you're a content creator or just someone that plays the game that we all love, you do make a positive difference in this community. So thank you for being here with us! Now, I'm going to go into detail about what I appreciate about this community.

For years, I've come across many great people that did so much for the community. The community fansite owners - both Wizard101 and Pirate101 - have been a few of these great people. All of the Fansite Owners, official or not, put so much time and energy into their sites! With that, they all provide great information to their readers and bring all of the community together. Many of these sites have been here for years and still provide important information that helps improve our gameplay experience. There are also new sites that have joined that have also made a very positive difference in this awesome community. I would like to send a major thank you to all of the fansite owners in this community! Continue keeping up the great work & bringing this community together. If you're reading and would like to check out the official fansites (some of which have links to other great blogs in the community), feel free to click on the hyperlinks below!

One thing that is somewhat, but also not so much, new, are streamers! Twitch has been a great way to bring the community together. I'm sure many of you can agree with me that the streamers of the community (not including myself here) have made a positive impact on the community. How so? Well, they are able to get many in the community together for various events - whether its PvP or even questing together. I would like to thank ALL of the streamers in this community for doing what you can to bring this community together through your channels. I can say right now that I've had many great memories - such as the one above when we were at one of Heather&Val's streams from 2017. This last-minute event made it to one of my all-time favorite memories in this community. Heather, Tara, AwesomeTheSauce, and many other streamers have also supported just-starting content creators throughout the community. That is greatly appreciated. I hope the streaming community continues to grow and all streamers continue to join together to make a larger positive difference in this community than has already been made. It's definitely possible!

One last thing I'd like to say is that I lost track of this appreciation for this community over the years. That's something I never thought would happen. It wasn't until recently that I was able to see that I do appreciate the things that everyone does for this community. I've had my fair share of regretful moments in this community. I've said many regretful things, especially over the past few years. But despite that, I still appreciate what all of you do - content creator or not. My hope is that one day we can all join together to make this community the best place it can be. We can still have our disagreements, except you better not ever say that you hate vanilla ice cream. Then, we might have an issue. 😂 Overall, I want to say that every single last person has a place in this community. Thank you all so much for reading. And Happy 11th Birthday to Wizard101. 💗

Aladdin Returns!

Hello Wizards!

I have some breaking news from the Spiral. The Hero that saved everyone from a total monster takeover during Halloween of 2017 has finally returned to the Spiral. Aladdin is back! He has many plans to make the Spiral the best place it can be for everyone.

He looks forward to sharing his new adventures with y'all over the next month or so! And if you see him in the Spiral, be sure to welcome him back & thank him for saving Wizard City. Hopefully, a takeover like that never happens again.... right? It's not going to happen again...? Anyway, let's celebrate this spooky season with Prince ALaddIn's Return to the Spiral!

Happy 11th Birthday, Wizard101!

Hello Wizards!

Today is a very special day! As you have read from the title, today, September 2nd, is Wizard101's 11th Birthday! Eleven years ago, Kingsisle released Wizard101 to the public. Today, Wizard101 is still going strong & Kingsisle has released so many amazing updates for the community that plays their game.

Since 2008, Kingsisle has updated the game in so many different ways, that if I listed all of them, this post would be one of my lengthiest posts. Overall, Kingsisle has done an amazing job keeping the game updated and going strong after 11 years! I remember celebrating their 1st Birthday in 2009. To be honest with all of you, I never thought I'd be playing the game this long! If someone told me in 2009 that I'd still be playing the game & interacting in the community 10 years later, I'd laugh. I'm sure those who have played even longer than me feel the same way. But when you think about it, you won't find another community like this anywhere else.

Anyway, I wanted to make this post short & sweet (since I have another post planned for Friday - to celebrate Wizard101's Birthday). Thank you, Kingsisle, for such an amazing game! It truly is amazing seeing Wizard101 last as long as it has. I look forward to seeing what you have planned for the game in the 2020s. You have many that support you & your efforts to continue making Wizard101 the best game that it can be. And I must say that your efforts are recognized. Thank you for everything that you do. Keep up the great work, Kingsisle!

Welcome to the 'Bers!

Hi there!

I hope all of you had an amazing August. I hate to say it, well not really, but I'm so glad August is over. The 'Bers has always been my favorite time of year! For me, as soon as September arrives, I start preparing for the Holiday Season - Halloween, Thanksgiving, and of course, Christmas!

At the moment, I am mostly looking forward to Halloween - next month. It's crazy that Halloween is already so close! I actually added a Halloween Header to my blog last month to celebrate the Holiday Mashup - which I'm extremely far behind on, I promise I'll catch up on announcing winners of contests asap - and didn't take it down! Since Fall is quickly approaching, I've decided to leave it up through the end of next month. Speaking of Fall & Halloween, I know many of you look forward to the Halloween Run each year. We actually did a live poll in-game during the Holiday Mashup and the majority of you stated that your favorite Run was the Halloween Run. I really do appreciate that!

I recently had another poll on the SpiralVision Twitter Account asking what day you like seeing us host events. The Majority of you (over 70%) voted for Saturday! I had no idea so many of you would rather see us host events on Saturdays, so we are definitely considering bringing the Run Events (and other events)  back to Saturdays! So keep an eye out for more information about those type of events. One thing that I want to work on this month is to brainstorm ideas for the events. We want to make them unique, but also a lot of fun. I look forward to hosting more events for this awesome community. I would like to thank those who stick by the events after so long. Even if you're unable to attend, your support for the events truly means the world to us. Thank you!

Other than Wizard101 stuff, I am hoping to bring back Edward Cringle back to the Spiral very soon! My plan is to start streaming his adventures live on Twitch! I don't know when I'll be able to start live streaming, but do keep an eye out for an official announcement here on this blog. Some of you that have kept up with this character may be shocked to hear that I created this character nearly 7 years ago! Well... nearly meaning December of 2012. Edward Cringle Update Posts have been on the decline over the past few years, but they will return! I also plan to upload every questing adventure to YouTube to publish here on this website. I'm hoping to announce the first livestream towards the end of this month, so keep an eye out for more information! :D

Anyway, that's all I have for you for this post, other than a piece of news that I forgot to share! Please keep an eye out this upcoming Friday (September 6th) for a new Wizard101 Blog Post. This post comes straight from my heart and I hope the community likes it. I do think you will, but we will see. If you don't, that's okay too. But my goal is to have the opposite effect. So do keep an eye out on this website and my blog's official Twitter Account, @AroundTheSpiral for this new blog post. Thank you all so much for reading. Until next time, I'll see you around the spiral.

A Long-Needed Break

Hello Wizards!

It's actually been nearly a month since I've made a new blog post. Today, I wanted to talk about our events, and a bit of what we have planned for the future. We recently celebrated our recent Holiday Mashup event (the recap post will be published later this week) which was a lot of fun even though we had to improvise unlike ever before. But we recently decided it was time to take a break from hosting events.

I started the first Run event back in December of 2012 - known as The Santa Run. In December of 2015, I decided it was time to bring it back and we started hosting events nearly every Holiday since that time. With each event, we would further improve how we hosted the event & even started hosting activities that would take place before the main run event. Back in the day, we would wait in the commons until it was time to run & then after the run, we'd teleport everyone to the after-party. Today, we host many activities, run, and then have an afterparty. With that, came a lot more work.

We started working with Kingsisle to get codes to giveaway to you all during our events, further improved our activities so most were able to participate and started streaming our events on Twitch. All of that also came with a lot more work. In 2015, it would take an hour to prepare for an event. Our 2016 events? I'd say around 3 or 4 hours. Today's events take countless hours to prepare for. So it does take a lot of time & energy to come up with everything. It is fun hosting them, but after nearly four years (30 major events) of doing this, we thought it would be good to take a long-needed break from the events.

We were thinking that a perfect time to come back with the events would be the Bunny Run of 2020 - which will either take place in March or April of 2020. This will give us time to improve SpiralVision when it comes to our normal streams & try to think up a new direction for the events going forward. Again, we are in no way leaving. We're just taking a temporary break from the events. The purpose of these events has always been to bring the community together. So let's create a SpiralVision community. Our vision of the spiral has always been the same as the old community leaders. I look forward to bringing that to life next year. So get ready for major surprises going forward. In the meantime, feel free to join us on our new upcoming streams on SpiralVision! Also, feel free to give us a follow!

Holiday Mashup 2019: Guide Contest

Hello Wizards!

The Holiday Mashup 2019 is quickly approaching! This year's Holiday Mashup will take place on Sunday, August 11th (http://www.edwardlifegem.com/2019/07/holiday-mashup-2019-sunday-august-11th.html). If you didn't know, each one of our events, we not only have activities, but we also run around Wizard City in a group - keep in mind this will be a multi-area event. If you watch the video below, you'll see where we'll run during this event. The Run officially begins after all of our activities. Now let's talk about the contest!

We'll be giving away 30,000 crowns to one lucky winner that watches the Holiday Mashup Video (above) and correctly writes down all of the areas that we visit. All correct entries sent to us through email will be entered into a Random.Org drawing. If you would like more information about this contest, keep reading:

Watch The Run Video
You will need to watch the video above to know where we'll be running during the "Run Portion" of our event. Again, The Run will take place after we have activities during our event.

Write Down The Areas
As you watch the video, you will need to write down (in order) all of the areas that we visit in the video. We will visit an area more than once, so make sure to write down every single area. Example: We will start in The Commons and end in The Commons. You will have to write down both.
