2012: The best of Around the Spiral?

Hi there!

Well, this is the last day/ hours of 2012. I've had such a great year with all of you and I can't believe I'm saying it but I'll be gone until 2013. Yeah... Its awhile.. Okay maybe I should say next month, or.. tomorrow! Lol! :) I would never make a post like that. Today I'm going to make a great post of all of my favorite adventures on Around the Spiral and my favorite things about this year in blogging.

The beginning of 2012- Jan-May

I started off at a rough start on Around the Spiral due to personal issues but everything started to get better and I had my first huge contest! If you don't remember, I had my 10x10x10 contest  and that had to be the biggest contest I had this year. I was planning on having another contest which was supposed to be right about now. I decided to reschedule that until the beginning of next year though! I'll explain more in a little.. My other favorite thing about this time period was when Pirate101 was released. I was very excited and I had to start blogging about the announcement and all! I couldn't wait to start playing that. I found out about Pirate101 in April and I had to wait awhile until my ship arrived so I could finally experience my Pirate adventure. Around the Spiral had 150 members/50,000 views during this time period.

Middle Of 2012- June-September

Wow, this was a crazy time period. I loved every single moment of it though! In June I found out about the Pirate101 Fansite submission and was trying for that a few times. August was my favorite month, I couldn't blog about my adventures on Pirate101, but I really loved being accepted to Beta and really thank Kingsisle for that! I always wanted to join Wizard101 beta but I arrived to late and I'm glad I had a chance to participate in Pirate101 Beta! I think its made me a better player and its weird but I think its made me a better player in Pirate101 and Wizard101! Around the Spiral had about 175 members during this time period/ 80,000 views!

*End of 2012- October- December*

Yeah.. This time period.. It had to be the best Around the Spiral has ever had! In October I was trying my best to level and I didn't focus on blogging much. I was trying to figure out what my blog could be like at the end of the year if I made official Pirate101 fansite, this brings me to November 2012. On November 8th I finally made Pirate101 Official Fansite within an hour after submitting my blog. This was the third time and I couldn't believe it. I had a lot of hope that I would make it though :) This was a huge goal accomplished including 100,000 views on blog and 200 members. In December, this month, I had a chance to talk about my Pirate101 character, explain more about myself to my new members. I also had a chance to think about how great 2013 is going to be. I have a lot of goals, and I'm planning on completing them. Maybe I could have some help from you! I hope you stick around with me and continue your adventure Around the Spiral! 

Side Questing with Edward Cringle!

Ahoy Pirates!

A week ago I posted about my new Swashbuckler, Edward Cringle. If this is the first time you've heard of this character, make sure to read my post explaining more about him at this link: Edward Cringle. I hope you enjoy the post, don't forget to read this one after! Now to move on. The last few days I haven't had a chance to quest/ blog much because of the holidays I did have a chance to get a few side quests I noticed in Skull Island though! These quests included experience, gold and nautical experience. I couldn't turn the nautical down because I want to be the right level when I reach certain worlds so I had to do the quests!

I hope you enjoyed the post, I'll keep you updated on all of the side quests! This brings me to the importance of side questing. Sometimes you may not think its important to side quest but once you think about it, it really is. I noticed that if you side quest you get more experience and you may be a higher level when you enter the next world. That'll be easy with all of the hard bosses you have face in the future of Pirate101. I think that side questing is a lot of fun and can really help. You don't have to side quest unless you feel like you should! I wish you good luck in the Spiral and make sure to keep reading for more posts on Edward Cringle!

Christmas is over!

I'm very sad to even say that and I've changed the background to a normal background, I didn't want to keep the Christmas one up b/c I know Christmas is over the day after which is today. I will be counting down on Twitter though in 100-150 days like I did this year! I loved posting so many Christmas songs and I was going to extend Christmas songs through December 31st but going to only post one last song and that's what are you doing New Year's Eve. I hope you enjoyed all of the Christmas songs and I'm hoping next year I get every single day with Christmas song posts! Here's the last one.. until Christmas 2013 :)

Who am I? How did I start Around the Spiral?

Hi there!

This is probably directed to Pirate101 players since Around the Spiral was made an official fansite a few months ago. I haven't had a chance to make this post for awhile because I was very busy! I'm busy now too, but, I really wanted to make this post. I promised a friend on Around the Spiral's Facebook that I would yesterday but I forgot! Sorry about that. I love doing sections, so I'll tell you who I am in a first section and how I started this blog in the second, enjoy!

Edward Lifegem, who are you?

I am a 19 year old blogger, who has played Wizard101 since August 2009 and Pirate101 since Beta in August 2012! I found out about Kingsisle's first game Wizard101 from Cartoon Network and I was currently looking for a video game to play and noticed this, I looked up the website immediately and instantly was addicted to the game. I've been playing ever since! I decided to start a blog about the game (more information about that in next section).  Before Around the Spiral became an official fansite, I was only blogging about Kingsisle's first game, Wizard101. They also have names on there so that's how I got the name Edward Lifegem! Its different than Pirates of course :) I have used Around the Spiral with Edward Lifegem since last April on this blog. For Pirates, I am a level 50 witchdoctor with a new character called Edward Cringle which is currently a level 5 swashbuckler! I love Pirate101 as much as I love Wizard101! 

My excitement for both games, or maybe just a level!

How did you start your blog Edward?

I started my blog in 2010 with a good friend Mary Dreamshade. She also played Wizard101 with me and we created our blogs after seeing a famous blogger/ community manager of Pirate101, friendly! I loved his blog and that's why I still blog now because back when I started my blog I always loved blogging because he did too! I love blogging now so much that I try to blog everyday even when I'm busy like today, Christmas Eve. I really do love my fans and can't believe that this blog has made it this far. I started blogging about Pirate101 in April when Pirate101 was first announced, I couldn't wait to get on the game and start blogging about it. I decided to submit for official when Kingsisle said we could, I submitted the first time and the blog looked too much like a Wizard101 site. I understand that because it really did, I was only blogging Wizards mostly with more detail. This brings us to the second time I submitted, I had a few issues that I didn't catch and I fixed them. On November 8th I submitted again and an hour later I was seeing tweets, from Anthony Deathbane the first time and he was telling me that I made official fansite to Pirate101! I couldn't believe it. I looked at my email and there it was, Friendly said I made official! I am very glad to be an official fansite and I promise you that I will start blogging a lot more going into detail, this post may be going into too much detail  but I really am glad I made this post so you know more about me :) I hope you enjoyed this post and I really can't wait to blog more for all of you (Including Wizard101), in 2013! I have big plans for all you and I hope you enjoy them!

Ahoy Pirates!

If you haven't noticed by now, the polls have closed for the MMORPG 2012 Players' Choice Awards. From what I'm seeing, it looks like Pirate101 has won the game of the year 2012! They have a 27.8% ahead from second place Guild Wars 2 with 27.3%. I knew Pirate101 would win :) We all have to thank Kingsisle for a great game though, a fantastic game that they built not too long ago and it still won Game of the Year. This means Kingsisle has to be the best game team ever right? Well I think so! I really can't wait until next year to see all of the surprises you have for us Kingsisle. I hope you have a great Christmas, New Year and a bunch of great years ahead!

Edward Cringle!

Ahoy Pirates!

You're probably wondering why I named a new character Edward Cringle right? Well, this all starts from my first character I made.. Edward (Witchdoctor). I made my witchdoctor during Halloween this year, and based him off of the holiday. I decided recently that I wanted to base all of my Pirate101 characters off of the holidays. My next character is based off of that's right, Christmas!

Edward Cringle (Level 5 Swashbuckler)

I'll start blogging about my Swashbuckler from now on, I had to level through 5 levels to see what it would be like to level on a Swashbuckler since I've only leveled a Buccaneer and Witchdoctor in the past. I think this school is a very special, awesome, epic school so far. I'm trying to tell you how I think it is but I don't know if it's possible. I'll have more on my Pirate after the holidays, I won't be able to blog much until then, so.. Merry Christmas! I think my companion wants to show you how epic this school really is!

Wizard101/ Pirate101 Online Safety!

Hi there!

I haven't had a chance to blog lately due to the holidays and a few personal reasons but soon I will come back online both games and start blogging :) Right now I wanted to make another online safety post to end 2012 and start 2013 off safe! If you look down below, there is a section for Wizard101 and Pirate101 online safety. I encourage you to read both of them!

Pirate101 Online Safety

• Password/User: If someone asks for your password in return of crowns/memberships, you should know by now that they are planning on taking your account. You need to make sure you don't give it to them. You shouldn't give anyone personal information of yours, if Kingsisle wanted you to do that, you wouldn't even need a password to log in.
• Crowns/Memberships: This goes along with the password, there's no way anyone can give you this in return for your password unless they take your account and buy it for themselves. There's also a thing going around called a Crowns Generator, this is fake! There's no way this could even give you crowns, you shouldn't even be using this if it does. Kingsisle is a company and needs money to make everything we love. Ignore Crown or Membership Generators. You may be banned if you do find some crown generator..
• Personal Information: NEVER give away any of your personal information to anyone. Personal information includes phone numbers, address, location, credit cards and your passwords to the game(s). Please be careful and never give these things away to random people on the game. Not everyone you talk to is who they say they are. 
• Fansites: If you are looking for a way to get free crowns or bundles, you need to look at the Official Pirate101 Fansites. You will notice my site is there. I have great contests too and if you really want to have a free way without the return of your account, you need to pay attention to the official Pirate101 fansites! 

Wizard101 Online Safety

• Password/ User: I've noticed that Wizard101 has a bunch of people asking for passwords and some really do give their passwords to them in return for something. Don't do this! If you do this, your wizard is gone and most likely you'll never see them again. 
• Crowns/Membership: Prepare, this section is full of information. A lot of times when I go to the commons I see people giving their account out to random people in return for crowns or a membership. I even noticed one time someone promised 100million crowns to someone if they gave their account to them, and they believed them. You shouldn't give your account out to anyone for crowns or a membership. Another thing is the crowns generator just like I mentioned in Pirate101. This doesn't exist! It never will. You should be careful from people saying they work b/c if they ask for your account with the crowns generator they will take your account and get crowns for themselves on your account if it isn't banned.. 
• Bad Websites: There are bad websites out there that also ask for your account. One time I heard there was a fake Wizard101 website trying to get accounts. If you see a site like this, report it to Kingsisle right away. This brings me to the good sites....
• Good Websites for Contests: If you're wanting a membership or crowns you need to look at the Official Fansites. They are always having great contests, and this is an easy free way to win things, without the return of your account!!

2013 Goals for Around the Spiral!

I decided to make another post since its nearing the end of the year about goals I have for next year. First though, I would like to thank all of you for all of the goals we accomplished for 2012. Every single goal I had since day 1 of this blog was accomplished in a matter of 3 months. This only shows that anything is possible if you try hard and not give up.

Goals Accomplished in 2012

• Become a Pirate101 Fansite- Well that was accomplished on November 8th 2012, a month ago! I am very glad Tom accepted my site, even after three times of submitting we finally made it :) I am still very surprised that I'm a fansite and sometimes I forget! 
• 200 Members- This was accomplished last month as well, I am very surprised we made it to 200 members, to tell the truth.. I'm surprised I made it to 100! This year we gained at least 100 new people on the blog. Thank you everyone :)
• 100,000 Site Views- This happened a few days ago, I am very glad we made it to 100,000 views. WOW, Really though, that's crazy. Thank you everyone for this.

Here's a few of my 2013 goals I wish to accomplish! I hope you like them :)

2013 Goals to Accomplish

• Video Blogs- This probably sounds crazy right now, but I really would love to add video blogs for blogger from Youtube and post them on here for huge updates such as worlds on Wizard101/ Pirate101, or even smaller updates such as new features (Example: PvP on Pirate101)
• More Features- I would love to add a lot more features for everyone on this blog, more information and a easier way to get around. More pages with a lot more information!
• Members/ Site Views- This is up to you, I am not setting a goal for members and site views for 2013. This is a huge change because I did in 2011, that's going to change though :)
• Guest on the cool Podcasts- This would be epic! I would love to do this one day next year, I will be nervous though (along with the video blogs) because you have never heard my voice before and I never have made video blogs or been a podcast before, I guess we'll have to see!

These are my main goals to accomplish for 2013, I think all of them will be, its a lot easier than it was last year. Do you have any goals? If you try hard you can do anything. 12 Days of the Spiral!

Hello there!

On the first day of the Spiral Kingsisle gave to me a Charity Fa-La-La-La Llama Mount!

This Llama can be bought in the Pirate101 and Wizard101 Crown shops. You'll have to purchase from one of the two crowns shop to use the mount, or purchase from both to have a mount on both games! This is the third charity Kingsisle is doing and this one is helping the Austin Children's Center & Children's Medical Center. This is exactly why I love Kingsisle, they are donating to hospitals to help children! Kingsisle will always remain the best game team ever, especially in my heart :) Merry Christmas Kingsisle :D

December Newsletter

Ahoy Pirates!

The December 2012 Pirate101 newsletter was released today and with it came a great background on the Pirate101 holiday background! With the background, they also said that there's going to be some festive surprises from the Pirate101 fansites this month. I'm guessing that means we'll have some gifts (Contests) for you ;) I can't wait, I love having contests! Let it Snow! (Dec. 3rd)

Hello there! Welcome to day three of Christmas songs! If you haven't heard from me or noticed by now, there's been record warmth where I live. Today the temperature was 73 degrees. I can't even believe it myself! Last year was the same way though.. Before the past two years during December it was in the 30's most of the month and now... well its really warm. Lets hope this song works for all of us wizards and pirates that really want snow just in time for Christmas! (or now).

Crowns

A nice person just trying to find a way to get crowns was asking a people on a page on how to get crowns and I respond to her that certain ways will get you banned or account taken away. Here's a post on what to do and what not to do when trying to get crowns...

Crown Generators, Account Theft, Banned!

(What not to do)

Let me begin with crown generators... They don't exist! If they do Kingsisle will notice and they will ban your IP address/ account. Crowns may not be easy to get but this isn't the way to go, I'm trying to help you before this happens to you. Account Theft is the same thing, if someone promises you crowns and says they will give them to you on your account if you give them your password, well goodbye to your account. Kingsisle says never to give your password away to anyone! There wouldn't  be a password if they wanted it to be for anyone, right? Please understand that you really need to keep your password in great care and not let anyone have it. Once your account is given away...

Fansites & Giftcards

(What to do)

This is the best thing to do when you're in need of crowns and can't buy them for yourself! When the fansites had crown contests I entered and sometimes I didn't win but one time I did when I really needed them, I couldn't believe that I had just enough crowns to access another area in Pirate101. Have you heard of the game fansites before? Well there's plenty of them out there, here's a link to both the, Wizard101 and Pirate101 fansites. Note: Fansites don't always have contests.

The fansites aren't the only thing you can do, you can also get giftcards from good friends, or bloggers. Giftcards are the best thing for crowns OR a membership if you really want to trust someone. If someone says they'll give you crowns and they are a good friend, make sure you still ask them if they have a gift card. These are the greatest ways to get crowns unless Wizard101 or Pirate101 official Facebook or Twitter pages have a contest (Some are fake, be careful away from those).

Pirate101 Test Realm ( Practice PVP)

You may know that the Pirate101 test realm is online and it brings 1,500 bug fixes/ improvements and PVP. PVP is player vs. player and you can fight other pirates in the spiral. You aren't alone though, you get your companions and sometimes your pet to fight with you! Yesterday I logged into Pirate101 to see how PVP was and I decided I loved it right after my first match. I think this is going to be a lot of fun because your companions are with you on it. Right now this is only a little update for PVP, the other stuff will probably be added next year. Practice PVP will still be fun though, I'm sure you'll love it! If you don't have access to the test realm, be prepared for a few spoilers. :)

Area: This not the only area you can access PVP. Houses & different
areas in Skull Island have open Practice PVP areas. This is a 4v4 PVP Area!
You can find 1v1 in houses such as the Volcano Island & Castaway's Cove.

Joining: There is an option of joining a Red Team or a Blue team, as long as you
get there in time you can join the team you want to join.

Fighting: There are turns, you can't choose at the same time like you do with
enemies in the Spiral. You can fight with companions and pets, just like
it is shown above. You also have an option to flee a battle if you're
worried you won't survive the battle. If you do survive you get a VICTORY notice .

If you don't want to join, you can just watch another battle with other Pirates!
Pirates VS. Pirates is the best thing Pirate101 could add ;)

Is it important to Nautical Level?

I wanted to make this post to help anyone that is leveling in Pirate101 and not nautical leveling. I played Pirate101 since beta was released and noticed that there is a huge difference between just leveling without paying much attention to nautical leveling other than doing your quests where you have to defeat ships and where you nautical level with your quests and without. Would you like to see the difference between a Pirate that has been nautical leveling and not nautical leveling? Keep reading!

Pirate that Nautical Levels

A pirate who decides to nautical level will have many advantages on the game. You may notice it is a lot easier to defeat tough Pirate ships alone, get new horns for your ship (spells), or even get a better ship. Leveling your Pirate while nautical leveling with quests and nautical leveling in general is easier than you think. You will level your Pirate a lot faster because Pirate101 is a pirate ship game no matter what you do, you have to sail your ship and sometimes you may get caught in a battle that you really don't want to do and you may be worried about being defeated. If you've been nautical leveling, there won't be a problem at all! Make sure you are nautical leveling it will help you a lot more than you think!

Pirate that doesn't Nautical Level

I played Pirate101 since Beta was released in August. In August when I first started I had a difficult time trying to level and not be defeated in ship battles. I thought I was terrible at ship battles. My ship was always defeated by another ship and I didn't know what to do. By my surprise I noticed that you had to nautical level to get a better Pirate ship and all of the other things you could equip to your pirate ship. I am glad I finally found this out because if I didn't I would not be level 49 on Pirate101. There's a lot of ship battles in Pirate101 and you will need to nautical level. If you don't nautical level, you will have a tough time trying to defeat other ships. Make sure you are nautical leveling!

Now that we covered the differences between nautical leveling and not nautical leveling, I decided to give you a few great nautical levels for each world. Nautical 10 leaving Skull Island, Nautical 20 leaving Monquista, Nautical 25 leaving Valencia, Nautical 35 leaving Cool Ranch, and nautical 50 by the end of Mooshu. These are all great nautical levels by the end of each world. I hope you take these numbers and make goals of nautical leveling while Pirate leveling! Good luck in the Spiral everyone :)
